Bad things continue to happen in the “2023 Israel-Hamas War“, now one month and two days old.
Or one month and two days in – to its Wikipedia entry and current media cycle, more graphic in display and horrific in design by the day. But not old.
Today Jenin was on/in the news for being the site of the latest Israeli offensive (attack? target? I am not ashamed to be unversed in war language). The city of Jenin houses a refugee camp that was set up in 1953.
That’s seventy years ago.
Per Wikipedia:

Presuming the present tense describes “normal” living conditions in what’s already a cul-de-sac rather than a passage to somewhere better, more war in such an inhospitable place (including women having to give birth on the move with little to no medical assistance) is a very cruel accident of geography.
AlJazeera reports that as of 9 November, approximately 1 million “Gazans” have been displaced.
In a month and 2 two days.
