Lori Monrovia

228m. My first good look at a rudder that human beings could be desperate enough to stowaway on, as reported most recently by the BBC on 12 Aug (“Fourteen Days Across the Atlantic, Perched on a Ship’s Rudder”) with below images of four Nigerians who ended up – barely – in Brazil after clambering onto this tanker rudder in Lagos in June.

Seeing such a thing up close adds substance and dimension, but it’s still a thing to get one’s head around.

Would that it were more simple.
